Privacy Policy
Vayl is a private app for couples exploring non-monogamy together. Your intimate reflections are the most sensitive thing we hold, so we built the app to share as little as possible, including between you and your partner.
Who we are

Information we collect
- Account. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and an email address, which may be an Apple private-relay address. We use this to create and secure your account.
- Profile. A display name, pronouns, and the relationship stage or flavor you choose. You provide these, and you can edit or clear them.
- Partner link. If you pair with a partner, we store the connection between your two accounts so the app can offer shared features.
- Your content (sensitive). The reflections you create in the app: Desire Map ratings, Pulse check-ins, journal entries, agreements, and card-session activity such as which decks you used and when. This is personal, sensitive information and we treat it that way.
- Purchases. Purchases are processed by Apple. We receive confirmation of what you are entitled to, not your payment-card details.
- Technical data. Basic device and diagnostic information needed to run the app reliably.
How we use it
- To provide the app: your maps, sessions, pulse, and vault.
- To sync your account across your devices and, where you have paired, to power shared features with your partner.
- To compute where you and your partner align on the Desire Map.
- To deliver content you have purchased and keep your account secure.
We do not use your content to advertise to you, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
What your partner can and cannot see
The core promise
When you pair, your partner can see your display name and pronouns, your general presence, and where the two of you align on the Desire Map. Your partner cannot see your raw Desire Map answers, your private journal entries, or your solo reflections. The app is built to surface agreement, never to expose each other's individual responses.
Vayl is designed exclusively for private, one-to-one connections between people who have chosen to pair. It is not a public social network: there are no public profiles, no discovery of strangers, and no public sharing.
Storage and security
Your data is stored with our hosting provider and protected by access controls that scope your content to your own account, and, for shared features, to your couple. Data is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information appropriately for how sensitive it is.
Keeping and deleting your data
You are in control
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, then Delete Account inside the app. Deleting your account immediately and permanently removes your profile, your Desire Map answers, your sessions, and your journal entries from our live systems. Any residual copies in encrypted backups are purged within 30 days.
We keep information only as long as needed to provide the app or as the law requires.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. You can exercise most of these directly in the app, or contact us at [email protected] and we will help.
Not medical or therapeutic advice
Vayl offers maps, vocabulary, and prompts for your own reflection. It is not therapy, and it does not provide medical, psychological, or professional relationship advice. It does not draw conclusions about who you are. Decisions about your relationship are your own.
Age
Vayl is intended for adults. You must be 18 or older, or the age of majority where you live, to use it. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Your continued use of Vayl after a change means you accept the updated policy.
